Amazing Books

I still consider myself a sewing novice and am always looking to improve my knowledge and skills. There are thousands of sewing resources available. Below are my top 3 faves.

I love this book! Although I mostly sew home décor, I definitely get the urge to sew clothing. Fashionpedia is a good resource for learning about the history of fashion and common types of garments in the fashion industry.

My goodness, there’s over 500 pages of useful information! What’s not to like about this book?! I love this resource because there is so much covered from learning how to hand stitch to learning how to properly insert zippers in garments. How to Start Sewing is a great resource for new sewers and professionals alike.

I’m a tactile learner, which is why I really enjoy The Swatch Book. There are many fabric textures to feel, which is very useful in gauging the quality of fabric you buy, particularly when buying fabric online.
