This style only uses two solid colors. The two-tone style is great for showing off your school colors. In the third style, the construction is similar to the canvas and sequin placemats project. I used leftover black solid fabric from a previous sewing project that measured 16″ wide by 11″ long. I placed my 2.5″ wide x 11″ long yellow strip on top of the black fabric and aligned it a bit off center. I used the yellow strip as a guide to where I wanted to cut the black fabric.
After cutting the black fabric into two pieces, I placed the yellow strip right sides together with one of the sides of the black fabric and sewed using a 1/4″ seam allowance. Then, repeated this step to sew the second half of the black fabric to the yellow strip. Next, I used my fabric chalk to trim the front so that the width measured 11″. Therefore the width and length were 11″.
After trimming, I ironed and continued to follow the steps in Style 1.
